AFFGS Education Meeting:
Monday, October 26 7-9pm

Advocating for your children and navigating their educational needs
Presented by Lisa Konick

Mt. Baker Park Presbyterian Church, 3201 Hunter Blvd. S., Seattle, 98144

We provide snacks and all training materials, including lots of resources for parents to take home. The workshop can be tailored to the specific needs and interests of the parents participating -- we can focus more on school-age kids, preschool kids, or whatever parents need.

The workshop teaches parents how to advocate for their children in school. Parents learn their rights in regard to getting special services for their kids such as special education, speech therapy, etc. They learn how to deal with disciplinary actions, enrollment, and other topics. They receive empowering coaching and practical information that allow them to approach education professionals in their children's lives with confidence and knowledge.

Meeting is free for AFFGS members.

This workshop is supported by Treehouse (a local agency that provides services for foster families and adoptive parents).

Those who are licensed foster parents will receive credit toward the new in-service training requirements.
